the VoS build is weak because the pets damage is not as high as the damage of a higher earth prayers. i use flail as IAS. u use 2 skills for the pet. i can use 2 extra defense skills so i stay alive longer

I've used great dwarf armor and mystic regeneration together on that build and I don't see how much more "survivable" you could be. It's true there are many more skill options that can be used on that build and if you want me to add them just post a list of them. Or you could post your own build here that's why I made the thread to get some decent dervish builds posted.

If anyone has any Dwayna, Reapers, or Wounding strike builds please post them. My experience with them is a little limited so I don't wanna post trash.

I almost always run this build
Scythe Mastery: 12+1+3
Mysticism: 10
Earth Prayers: 8
1. Reaper's Sweep
2. Eremite's Attack
3. Mystic Sweep
4. (Optional Attack skill)
5.(Optional[Usually Dash or Vital Boon])
6. Mystic Regeneration
7. Mystic Vigor
8. Faithful Intervention
It's pretty reliable, imo.

This is usually what I run in low-end PvE areas for the lulz. (low-end defining NM)
D/W
Scythe Mastery 12+1+1
Mysticism 12+1
Earth Prayers 3+1 for no real reason.
Wounding Strike [E]
Eremites
Mystic
Zealous Sweep
"YMLAD"
"I am the Strongest"
Flail
AoHM
Sometimes I swap YMLAD for a ress or Save Yourselves if I'm feeling silly.
Also my running build:
D/A
Mysticism 12+1
Earth Prayers 8+1
Shadow Arts 11
Dark Escape
Dash
"I am Unstoppable
Optional
Vow of Silence [E]
Dwarven Stability
Mystic Regeneration
Watchful Intervention
At r10 delver my dash last 6sec and dark escape 24sec.
The optional is usually fleeting stability or death's charge depending on the area I run (like lots of kd's, hugre mobs I can rubberband in etc.)

I'm vanquishing Elona right now and here's the bar i generally use. I use the Sabway heroes, Cynn, Mhenlo, Aidan, Odurra, or Kim. The henchies vary depending on location.
Avatar of Lyssa
Eternal Aura
Heart of Fury
Meditation
Eremite's Attack
Victorious Sweep
Pain Inverter
Optional
Mysticism 11+1
Scythe Mastery 12+1+1
Optional: AoHM(usually this is what i use in that spot), Conviction, Mystic Regen, Technobabble, Sig of Capture, Rez, Mark of Rodgort (with fire scythe).
Sometimes in the desolation i might use Avatar of Balth just for the holy dmg and extra armor or Avatar of Dwayna in hex-heavy areas. I use Technobabble in the desolation a lot to stop the acolytes and cavaliers from rezzing. Pain inverter generally destroys elementalists in no time due to all the AoE damage the minions are taking. If I use a secondary profession I put all my extra attribute points into whichever attribute i use there, or if i use conviction or mystic regen i put them in EP. If I don't use a sec or an EP optional, i bump up mysticism for HoF and Meditation (i think, i'm at work right now, can't really check)

Put more killing power in it and let the monks worry about keeping you alive ok. And yes, needs more Heart of Fury and Aura of Holy Might. Dervs can do incredible AoE damage; I weep on the inside and the outside every time I see a derv with half its bar dedicated to staying alive.

If i were you, i would lose the superior rune for a minor one. there's no reason to give up 75 health. then you can lose VB. if you want more health run AoM and use wearying strike for deep wound instead of reaper's, but you should probably use one of the avatars as your elite anyway. add eternal aura and HoF. lose faithful for AoHM. you can keep mystic regen, i kind of like that skill despite the recent nerfs, but you may want to get rid of mystic vigor and go with a dwarf, norn, or vanguard skill for extra armor. Also if you don't take mystic regen then you can put your mysticism at 12 and get the extra E and HP boost when your enchants end.
Here's the bar (i think)
AoM or AoL
Eternal Aura
Heart of Fury
Aura of Holy Might
Mystic Regen, armor skill, maybe IMS skill
Wearying Strike or other attack if not using AoM
Eremite's attack
Mystic Sweep
The important thing to remember about being a dervish is kill the red dots and bring a good monk.
By the way i freaking love your screen name.

Yay, finally got AoHM. Gonna try some of these builds now :P
Edit:
Hmm, Alex. I had to make some changes in your build. I didn't have good energy management, had to cast most of the enchantments when the fight was almost over. So I swapped AoM for AoL and Wearying for Eremite's. Now it works very good though.

My current build for Dervish is:
D/Mo
________________
~9 smiting
~15 scythe mastery
~9-10 mysticism
remainder in earth prayers
remainder of the remainder in prot prayers (0-1)
Attack Combo: Vital Boon,Wounding Strike, Mystic Sweep, Twin Moon Sweep
Pre-Engagement Enchants: Strength of Honor, Mystic Intervention
Condition Removal: Mending Touch
Blessed inscriptions, +1 earth prayers, +1 mysticism, +2 scythe mastery
Scythe: Sundering +15% Enchanted, +30 (no need to extend enchantments on this build)
Pretty easy to see how it's run. Put up VB, hit WS so that the target can't heal fully, hit mystic sweep to quickly follow up (and do the max +30 damage) and then hit TMS so that you can kill the target, self heal, and get out. The bonus damage from Strength of Honor makes this lethal if the target isn't protted or a warrior/paragon. Of course, it would be even better if you had a team that put a damage buff on you so that you could use an IAS instead of smiting prayers and spike through mobs (or other players) faster.

This thread is getting plagued with bad builds, similar to divine's thread in the monk section.
I guess you just can't have a proper build thread that is open to anyone.

I am trying to put together a good build based around wounding strike, so far i have been using
[build prof=D/Any name="Wounding Strike Dervish" scythe=12+1+1 mysticism=12+2 desc="Weapon #1: Zealous Scythe of Enchanting{br}Weapon #2: (Elemental) Scythe of Enchanting"][Mystic Vigor][Great Dwarf Armor][Heart Of Fury][Wounding Strike][Zealous Sweep][Victorious Sweep]["I Am The Strongest"][No Skill][/build]
Armor:
Full Windwalkers
Superior Vigor
1 Attunement
1 Vitae
Which seems to work well, good damge output and survivability I don't have Aura of Holy Might yet (only at ~30k Faction), but that can replace mysic vigor once i have that.
If anyone has any suggestions as to how to improve this, they would be greatly appreciated.
Edit: (Modified Build code)
